This distribution offers you a huge set of tools for testing network security, that you may hardly find in any similar distribution dedicated to penetration testing.
Backtrack 5 is based on Ubuntu Lucid (10.04 LTS). You can download the distribution in a GNOME or a KDE version, for 32-bit or 64-bit x86. It is a DVD ISO file that you can use as a LIVE operating system if you just want to test it. You can also write it in a usb drive, or even install it in a virtual desktop environment like Vmware or Virtualbox box before taking the decision of having it installed on your hard disk.
We are going to cover all these options in the coming tutorials, just keep an eye on us, and be patient. Thanks for your visit.
